How Software Helps in Energy and Utility Management Services

Information technology which includes software development and IoT (Internet of things) can make our life easy. One of the applications is Smart city which I will be talking about in this blog.
The main of smart city is to optimize very resource of energy and utility for promoting sustainable development.

The streets in the city need to be connected for implementing IoT. For this, one can use sensors in street lights which can receive and send information about transportation. When a person/vehicle is passing through the road during night, the lights only in the area where the object is presently moving can be lit and dimmed as soon as the user moves away. Sensors in traffic lights can be used to adjust traffic lights and prevent traffic jams. Sensors on road can help provide remote monitoring which helps in getting an instant update on the situations of accident and action can be taken without further delays.

When a person in city is finding a nearby place for parking, he/she can do this through sensors in real time. This saves a lot of effort in going to a distant place for parking or roaming in an area again and again searching.

A city may even use efficient ways of water distribution and other environmental monitoring. Water, electricity and gas consumption amounts may be available in real time using sensors, thus eliminating the need for taking reading.

Sensors can even be used to provide updates on air pollution and noise. These are only a few applications which we can be designed for smart cities.
